Five details worth checking before you click Book.

Taxes and mandatory fees
Compare checkout totals rather than search-result prices; resort fees and local taxes may be charged separately.
Breakfast and dining
A slightly higher room rate with breakfast may save money, but only if you would actually use it.
Cancellation flexibility
Refundable rates can be valuable when plans are uncertain. Compare cancellation deadlines and prepaid restrictions.
Transport and neighborhood
Check the cost of getting to the hotel and the places you plan to visit.
Points and loyalty value
When booking through a third party, hotel loyalty points and elite benefits may not apply. Review each program's current terms before choosing a rate.
