Guide · Updated October 24, 2026 · Includes a note from Levi's April 2024 stay at Tru by Hilton Da Nang; other hotels are research only. Prices change, so confirm the final total before you book.
Two cities in one.
Pick the river for energy or the beach for calm. Both are minutes apart.
River side or beach side?
The Han River side is the city's lively heart: riverside promenades, rooftop bars, cafés and restaurants, and the Dragon Bridge, which breathes fire and water on weekend evenings. It's the better base for short stays, food and nightlife, and it stays interesting when the weather isn't beach weather.
The beach side, across the river, runs along My Khe Beach. My An, a few blocks inland from the sand, is one of the most walkable areas in the city, with cafés, restaurants and services within a short walk of the beach. It has more of a beach-town, resort feel.
River side (Han River)
- Restaurants, cafés, rooftop bars and night markets
- Dragon Bridge shows on weekend evenings
- Good value from mid-range to high-rise hotels
Beach side (My An / My Khe)
- Walk to a long sandy beach
- Relaxed, walkable streets with cafés
- Higher prices for food and services than the city side
Da Nang's airport is unusually close to both areas, about 10–15 minutes by car, so you can split a trip between the two without losing much time. The streets immediately around the airport are less appealing, so skip hotels there unless you have an early flight.
Featured hotel: Tru by Hilton Da Nang City Centre
A newer, simple Hilton brand hotel on Le Duan Street in the city centre, about a five-minute walk from the Han River, with around 104 rooms. It's a practical, good-value base for Hilton Honors members.
Strengths
- Short walk to the Han River and its restaurants
- Breakfast included in the rate
- Hilton Honors points and elite benefits when booked direct
- Strong recent guest ratings
Watch out for
- A city hotel, not a beach hotel: allow a short taxi ride to My Khe
- Rooms are compact and the brand is no-frills by design
- No pool listed
Da Nang can feel like two different cities depending on where you stay. The river side near the Dragon Bridge is lively, with shows, restaurants and cafés. The beach side feels more like a resort town. Both are great, and Da Nang is one of my favorite places in Vietnam.
Before you book
- Compare the rate with Hilton Da Nang on the river if you want a pool and river views
- Check whether the price includes the service charge and VAT
- Ask for a higher floor for less street noise

What it costs, and when to go
Da Nang is one of the best-value beach cities in Asia. In our October 24 check of our partner's map, using its default sample dates, the three hotels in this guide ran from about $53 to $112 a night.
- Best weather: roughly February to August, with the hottest, busiest beach months in June and July.
- Rainy season: about September to December, with the highest risk of storms and typhoons in October and November. Prices drop, but beach days are less reliable.
- Holidays: Vietnamese New Year (Tết, January or February) and summer school holidays fill hotels with domestic travelers, so book early.
Costs to plan for
- Service charge and VAT: many Vietnamese hotels quote prices before a 5% service charge and VAT. Check whether a rate is "net" or "++".
- Visa: most visitors, including US citizens, need a Vietnamese e-visa. Apply only through the official government portal and ignore look-alike agent sites.
- Getting around: Grab cars and motorbikes are cheap and easy between the river, the beach and the airport.
- Day trips: Hoi An is about 45 minutes south, and Ba Na Hills about an hour west. Budget for tickets and transport.
Use the trip cost calculator to add flights, transfers and extras to your hotel price, or the true-cost calculator to compare two hotels' real totals.
Two more hotels to compare
Both are well-rated, full-service alternatives in the two main areas.
| Hotel | Why compare it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Hilton Da Nang | Full-service Hilton on the Han River in the city centre, close to the riverfront restaurants. | The price difference from Tru, and whether your Hilton status adds breakfast or lounge access. |
| Four Points by Sheraton Danang | Marriott Bonvoy hotel on the beach road facing My Khe Beach. | A sea-view room versus a city view, and the walk to My An's cafés. |
Five checks before you book
- Decide river or beach first, then compare hotels within that area.
- Compare the total for your dates, including service charge and VAT.
- Check the rainy-season dates if you're traveling September to December.
- Get your e-visa from the official portal before you fly.
- Book direct with Hilton or Marriott if you want points and elite benefits.
