The short answer: Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is a great pick for families who want a big water park without leaving the resort, and it's more fun for adults than you'd expect. If you'd rather be away from the slides and crowds, book Royalton Riviera Cancun in the same complex instead. It's a Marriott Bonvoy resort, and in our check for three nights in January 2027 it started at about $475 a night for two.

Royalton Splash opened in December 2022 around what the resort calls one of the largest on-site water parks in the Caribbean: two lazy rivers, a long run of slides and splash zones for younger children. Beyond the water park there are 12 restaurants, a kids club, a beach with calm water, and indoor games like bowling and laser tag. It's part of Marriott's Autograph Collection, so Marriott Bonvoy members earn and use points here.

Levi's tip

Even though it's not adults only, it surprisingly can be fun for adults. I especially liked lounging and relaxing in the lazy rivers. It also has a waterpark with slides if you're adventurous.

Strengths

  • The water park. Two lazy rivers and plenty of slides, open only to resort guests, so lines stay short.
  • A kids club for ages 4–12 and splash areas for toddlers.
  • Lots of choice: 12 restaurants, 10 bars and 24-hour room service.
  • Marriott Bonvoy points and status, as part of the Autograph Collection.

Watch out for

  • Extras add up. Bowling, laser tag, the trampoline park and the spa cost extra.
  • It's a big, busy family resort, not a quiet escape.
  • Not every restaurant opens every day, so book specialty dinners early.
  • Afternoon storms can close the pools and slides for a while.

Is Royalton Splash good for adults?

Yes, more than the name suggests. The lazy rivers are some of the most relaxing spots in the resort, there's a beach with calm water, and the adults-only French restaurant is an easy date night. What you won't get is quiet: it's a family resort, and the pools are busy with kids during the day.

Royalton Splash or Royalton Riviera Cancun?

The two resorts sit in the same complex near Puerto Morelos, and both are Marriott Bonvoy all-inclusives.

Levi's tip

I'd pick Royalton Riviera Cancun to get away from the hustle and bustle of the water parks, while staying close enough for a day of water adventure.

You can walk between the two, but Royalton Riviera Cancun guests need a day pass to use the Splash water park. Day-pass rules and prices change, so ask the resort before you book. Compare them side by side, with same-date prices: Royalton Riviera Cancun vs. Royalton Splash.

Is it good for kids?

It's built for kids. The Clubhouse kids club takes ages 4–12, with crafts, games and an outdoor playground, and a nanny service is available for an extra charge. Younger children have their own splash areas in the water park. Teens will like the bowling, laser tag and trampoline park, but those cost extra.

Is Diamond Club worth it?

Diamond Club is Royalton's upgraded tier. It adds a butler, a private lounge, priority check-in and dining reservations, and access to its own pool and beach areas. It's worth it if you want a calmer pool than the main water park, or if you're traveling at a busy time and want the best dinner times. For a short, active trip spent mostly on the slides, the standard rooms are fine.

Using Marriott Bonvoy points

Royalton Splash is part of All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy, so you earn points on paid stays and can book award nights with points. Award prices change by date, so compare them with the cash rate before you redeem. Elite benefits at all-inclusives can differ from city hotels, so check what your status includes when you book.

What it costs, and when to go

In our October 25 check on Booking.com, a Luxury Junior Suite for January 18–21, 2027 for two adults came to about $1,420 for three nights, roughly $475 a night before 16% VAT and a $5 nightly environmental fee, with free cancellation. That was about $75 a night less than Hyatt Ziva Cancun for the same dates, also before taxes. Christmas to early January and Easter are the most expensive weeks.
